Cenveo Corp. will permanently close its Minneapolis-based commercial printing facility located at 121 12th Ave. S. by the end of March.
A mass layoff warning that was recently sent to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, and later obtained by the Business Journal, said 112 jobs will be eliminated as a result.
“Some administrative and other office positions will remain operational, but will relocate to a new site,” wrote Michelle Anders, regional director of human resources at Stamford, Connecticut-headquartered Cenveo. “The operations departments of the facility, including pre-press, press, finishing, warehousing, assembly, fulfillment and mailing will be relocated to other Cenveo locations.”
The Business Journal speculated that layoffs could start as early as Dec. 31.
Last month, Cenveo announced the opening of two state-of-the-art envelope showcase, production and distribution facilities in Mount Pleasant, Pa., and Chicopee, Mass. The investments made in the development of the new plants represented one of the largest investments made into any production facility in the industry over the past 10 years, according to a release.
